Hertz, in collaboration with EVgo, has announced the launch of a promotion with special rates for customers renting any model of electric vehicle at Hertz rental locations in the United States. This way, customers can try themselves as an electric car owner without purchasing one. As of April, Hertz's extensive fleet included 50,000 electric vehicles, available at more than 2,000 locations in 44 U.S. states. EVgo, in turn, has 950 fast charging stations in more than 35 states.

The promotion is designed for new EVgo customers and frees them from monthly subscription fees and connection fees for one year. However, EVgo clarifies that rates will vary by state and time of day, and this discount does not apply to applicable taxes and fees. The offer is valid only on EVgo's own network, specific prices and conditions are available in the EVgo branded application.

This collaboration is aimed not only at attracting new customers to Hertz and EVgo, but also at providing potential electric vehicle buyers with hands-on ownership experience, including using public charging stations, before making a purchasing decision.

Hertz's vehicle fleet currently includes models from Tesla, Polestar and General Motors. However, recent expansion of the EV segment has been hampered by factors such as Tesla's price cuts and higher-than-expected repair costs for electric vehicles.

Wayne Davis, Hertz's chief marketing officer, emphasized that the company is committed to providing a superior rental experience with a diverse lineup of vehicles. “We are excited to partner with EVgo to provide our EV renters with more accessible and affordable charging options to keep their vehicle running smoothly,” said Davis.
